CT Author Expo and Book Fair

Time is flying and it’s been almost a year since I finished writing my book and published it on Amazon!  It’s gotten a little, but good responses since it’s been out and I’m hoping to work on getting it more out there once I’m done with grad school.

And I’ll be working on that starting with the CT Author Expo and Book Fair at the Torrington Library on May 4th!

It’s a small group of Connecticut authors coming together to network and then have an expo/fair for people to come in and buy books or get their copies signed.  There is also a panel later on in the Expo where some of the authors involved will be talking about their writing process and giving advice to aspiring writers that come to the event.  I am unsure if I am a part of that panel yet, but I will update once I know for sure if I am or not.

So, if you are in the tiny state of Connecticut, you should think about stopping by to meet and support some local authors!

Standing By is Available Now!

Wow, I can’t believe this… my book is actually available for purchase!

This fact is both exciting and terrifying.  Now anyone can read my book.  I wonder if seasoned authors are nervous when their newest books come out.  Probably not as nervous as the first one though.

Anyway, it’s real guys.  My book is now available on Amazon in Paperback and Kindle formats.

I’m so excited and slightly in disbelief.

I actually wrote a book.

Anyway, if you happen to get yourself a copy, please leave a review and share it!  I really appreciate it!

Cover Reveal!

It didn’t take long to choose a cover, thanks to the voting that took place last week.  So, drumroll please…

Oh, wait, this is a blog.

Just imagine one, then, because here is the cover for Standing By!

I only tweaked the cover slightly once I knew this would be the one (bonus points if you can notice the tiny difference).

Some people who I talked to didn’t like the white cover because of the way it blends in with backgrounds on the internet, like this blog.  However, I personally love white covers and find them to catch my eye more so than any other covers on the shelves.  I also like that this cover is simple, which is another factor I like in book covers when I’m book shopping.

Meanwhile, if all goes well over the next week or so, the book should be available no later than the end of July.  Latest would be mid-August.  But for my sanity, let’s shoot for mid-to-end of July, shall we?

Book Design Time!

Now that my book is in the hands of a few select editors, I am going to focus on the most important part of the book… the cover!

I mean, we all judge books by their covers, right?

I figure a good way to distract myself from thinking about other eyes constructively criticizing my baby is to keep my focus on what I’d like for a book cover.  I’ve had some ideas over the months of writing, but now that the writing is actually done, I can get a better picture in my head.  The great, but also terrible, thing about this is that there are numerous ways I can go with the cover.  Being an indecisive person most of the time… well, this doesn’t help me at all.

A few cover mock-ups have been made, and by a few, I mean two.  There are other ideas that I want to play with first before I start making decisions.

In the meantime, I’m just having fun designing the possible covers.
